Rajkumar Ringson Singh and Dylan P. Thokchom stood side by side, rackets raised, as the final score flashed on the court scoreboard: 21–9, 21–11 — a decisive victory that crowned them champions of the Smash For Glory 2026 badminton tournament in Bangalore. Their triumph was just one highlight of the Bangalore Manipur Student Association’s (BMSA) Annual Multi-Sports Tournament 2026, a vibrant celebration of unity, athleticism, and cultural pride that brought together over 30 teams from Northeast Indian communities across the city. More than just a competition, the event has become a cornerstone of community life, fostering connection among young people far from home.

Now in its latest edition, the tournament featured two flagship events: the Unity Cup 2026 for football and the Smash For Glory 2026 for badminton doubles. With 16 football teams representing groups from Arunachal Pradesh, Gurkha, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, the Unity Cup pulsed with energy and regional pride. On the badminton court, 17 teams battled it out in a format that broke tradition — mixed pairs were allowed to compete directly against men’s doubles teams, a move that elevated both the excitement and the spirit of inclusion. "One of the highlights of the badminton competition was the participation of mixed pairs, where female players partnered with male players and competed against men’s doubles teams, demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship and competitive spirit," BMSA noted in a statement.

In the end, Salai FC B emerged as football champions after a tense 3–2 penalty shootout victory over Salai FC A, sealing their place in BMSA sports history. Meanwhile, in the badminton finals, Rajkumar and Dylan’s dominant performance left no doubt about their mastery of the game. The event was graced by Rajesh A. M. as Chief Guest and presided over by Yambem Arun Meetei — founder of Apaibi Venture, president of the Manipur Soccer Futsal Association (MANISFA), and chairman of the Technical Board Commission of GIMAF — whose presence underscored the growing recognition of Northeast Indian youth initiatives in urban hubs like Bangalore.

Beyond the trophies and scores, the tournament succeeded in its deeper mission: building bridges. For many participants, BMSA’s annual event is more than sport — it’s a homecoming, a space where identity is celebrated and community bonds are strengthened. Volunteers, referees, medical staff, and sponsors all played vital roles in making the weekend a success. As the final applause faded, the organizing committee extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, signaling not just an end, but a promise of return. With each edition, the tournament grows not only in scale but in meaning — a testament to the resilience and joy of a community that continues to play, unite, and rise together.
