NIO just hit a major milestone. The Shanghai-based electric car company delivered 35,934 vehicles in July 2026, which is 71 percent more than it sold in the same month last year. In July 2025, that number was just over 21,000.

That's a big jump — and it adds to a growing tally that now exceeds 1.2 million cars delivered worldwide. By the end of July, NIO's cumulative deliveries reached 1,224,649 since the company started selling vehicles.

The sales came from three brands under the NIO umbrella. The flagship NIO brand led with 20,008 vehicles. ONVO contributed 10,155, and the newer FIREFLY brand added 5,771.

One particular model is standing out. The NIO All-New ES8 SUV crossed a delivery milestone of 130,000 vehicles in late July — just 305 days after it launched in September 2025. The company recently started offering a five-seat version of the ES8, joining six-seat and seven-seat options already available.

"The enhanced lineup strengthens NIO's presence across the premium large five-seat and premium three-row SUV segments, further reinforcing its leadership in the premium battery electric SUV market," the company said in its monthly update.

The jump in sales matters beyond just the numbers. Every electric vehicle sold means less pollution from transportation, one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gases globally. As more people switch to electric cars, cities become cleaner and air quality improves for everyone nearby.

NIO isn't the only player pushing this shift, but its growth shows that more drivers are making the change. And with brands at different price points — from the main NIO line to more affordable options under ONVO and FIREFLY — the company is trying to make electric driving accessible to more people.

For now, the company appears to be in a strong position. While July's numbers were slightly lower than June's 40,597 deliveries, the overall trend over the past few years points upward. Electric vehicles are becoming a larger part of how the world moves, and NIO is helping drive that change.
